英语中有些及物动词后跟动词作宾语时，只能跟动名词形式，而不可跟动词不定式形式。这一语法现象是英语考试中的常考考点，同学们必须牢记于心，并熟练掌握。为了便于大家记忆，现将常见的十三个词的用法归纳如下：
1. miss doing sth. 未赶上做某事；错过做某事；差点儿；避免。例如：
We only missed seeing each other by five minutes.
我们只因五分钟之差而未能见面。
She doesn’t want to miss watching Avatar tonight.
她不想错过今晚的电影《阿凡达》。
I missed burning my hand.
我差点儿烧了手。
He just missed being killed.

2. appreciate doing sth. 感激/喜欢做某事；appreciate sb./one’s doing sth. 感谢某人做了某事。例如：
I appreciate being invited to your home.
我感谢你邀请我到你家做客。
People appreciate working with him because he has a good sense of humor.
人们喜欢跟他一起工作是因为他极富幽默感。

3. mind doing sth. 介意做某事；mind sb./one’s doing sth. 介意某人做某事。常用于疑问句和否定句。例如：
She never minds helping me.

4. avoid doing sth. 避开做某事；防止发生某事。例如：
She tried to avoid driving in the center of the city.

10. suggest doing sth. 提议/建议做某事；suggest sb./one’s doing sth. 提议/建议某人做某事。例如：
He suggested reading the instructions first.

Mary suggested his/him selling the house.

My English teacher suggested my/me memorizing more words first.

11. keep doing sth. 继续做某事；重复做某事。例如：
